SAAS Career Fair 2016

The SAAS Career Fair was successfully held on Thursday, March 10, 2016. Being the first time to be organised by the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, this career fair was designed specifically for BSc(ActuarSc), BSc (Majors in Decision Analytics, Risk Management, and Statistics), and MStat students, with an aim to connect the industry and students in an interactive environment outside offices or classrooms. We were extremely honoured to have 8 companies/organization with 30 representatives altogether participating in the career fair, some of whom also happen to be our alumni! They have given our students tremendous insights into the industry, allowing our students to have a better understanding of the opportunities they could grasp and be more prepared.

In addition, we were also extremely honoured to have invited Mr C.F. Yam, former president of Actuarial Society of Hong Kong (ASHK) and our alumnus (Class of ‘84), to give our students a talk titled “From Analytical Actuarial to the era of Dynamic Risk Management involving Fintech”, as part of the Career Fair. The talk was without doubt another student attraction.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the participating companies and persons for their time and effort, and dedication to our students. Their support to our students has meant a great deal. With the enthusiastic response from students, we are certain that our students have gained much from the informative and inspiring interactions with the passionate representatives.
