HKU SAAS and The Actuarial Society of Hong Kong Signed Accreditation Agreement

On 29 July 2026, the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science (SAAS), The University of Hong Kong (HKU), signed an accreditation agreement with the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong (ASHK). This marks an important milestone in strengthening the collaboration between the academia and the actuarial industry, for HKU is the first university in the world to enter into an accreditation agreement with ASHK.

Under the terms of the agreement, students enrolled in the HKU Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science [BSc(ActuarSc)] programme will be eligible for exemption from the Core Paper of the ASHK Certificate Examination upon successful completion of the course Current Topics in Actuarial Science (SDST3954/STAT3954) with specified marks. 

The accreditation not only represents a significant synergy between academic excellence at HKU SAAS and professional recognition by the local actuarial profession, but also provides students who are in pursuit of the actuarial profession with an additional pathway towards becoming actuaries.
