SAAS Career Fair 2023
After the suspension for 3 years since 2020, the Department resumed its annual career fair on 17 October held on the campus. This year, there are 38 companies made up of different industries such as insurance & re-insurance companies, banking institutions, government department (Census and Statistics department), statutory body (Hospital Authority), the Big 4 global accounting firms, stock exchange, consumer intelligence company, market research company and a number of AI technology companies. All these companies are interested in our students studying actuarial science, artificial intelligence, data analytics, data science, risk management and statistics. There were close to 300 students at the fair and a good amount of interviews were held with offers made to students.
It has always been the Department’s aim to provide an exceptional and highly engaged career fair experience for both students and participating companies. For students, it is an opportunity to have direct interaction with industry professionals, access to a diverse range of employers to understand their organization culture and business activities, and more importantly gain recruitment opportunities by submitting CVs and participating the on-site interviews. For the participating companies, the fair is a platform to enable them to connect face-to-face with those passionate and qualified students, meet one-on-one with a large group of potential students, thus cutting through the clutter of online job searches and additionally, boost the company’s brand awareness.
It is very encouraging to note that immediately after the career fair, some companies have already registered their interest in the Career Fair 2024.
The fair was a great success in view of the very positive feedback from both companies and students as below:
