Course Objectives This course aims to equip students with advanced skills in a selected topic within Applied AI, either chosen by the instructor or suggested by senior BASc(Applied AI) students. The topic may vary depending on the instructor and the interests of the students and it could be selected from, for example, the following areas: AI model implementation, feedback data, multimedia data, finance, robotics, healthcare, and smart city. In addition to lectures, student seminars may be held based on reading the predefined list of research papers.
Course Contents & Topics In the following descriptions, "the designated Applied AI topic" refers to the specific topic selected by the instructor for the given academic year. Examples of these designated Applied AI topic are:

- AI model implementation
- AI technology in multimedia data and feedback data
- AI technology in investment and trading, risk management
- AI technology in medical diagnosis, health surveillance
- AI technology in transportation optimization and public safety
- AI technology in brain-computer interface
- AI technology in marketing, advertisements, e-commerce
- AI technology in robotics and automation  

  For a chosen designated Applied AI topic, the following aspects of it will be covered:
     - The background and societal needs
     - The underlying fundamental technologies
     - The latest research development
     - The current challenges
Course Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

CLO 1 explain the background and societal needs for the designated Applied AI topic
CLO 2 appropriately apply the fundamental technologies of the designated Applied AI topic as needed
CLO 3 critically evaluate the latest research in the designated Applied AI topic and utilize it when necessary
CLO 4 describe the current challenges in the designated Applied AI topic

Pass in at least 24 credits of advanced-level disciplinary core/elective courses in BASc(AppliedAI) programme. This course is only for BASc(AppliedAI) students; and subject to the consent of the course coordinator. The earliest that a student is allowed to take this course is their year 3 study. As the designated Applied AI topic to be covered may vary each year, students who would like to enroll this course should first check with the teacher which designated Applied AI topic will be covered.

A Demonstrate thorough mastery at an advanced level of extensive knowledge and skills required for attaining all the course learning outcomes. Apply highly effective organizational and presentational skills.
B Demonstrate substantial command of a broad range of knowledge and skills required for attaining at least most of the course learning outcomes. Show evidence of analytical and critical abilities and logical thinking, and ability to apply knowledge to familiar and some unfamiliar situations. Apply effective organizational and presentational skills.
C Demonstrate general but incomplete command of knowledge and skills required for attaining most of the course learning outcomes. Show evidence of some analytical and critical abilities and logical thinking, and ability to apply knowledge to most familiar situations. Apply moderately effective organizational and presentational skills.
D Demonstrate partial but limited command of knowledge and skills required for attaining some of the course learning outcomes. Show evidence of some coherent and logical thinking, but with limited analytical and critical abilities. Show limited ability to apply knowledge to solve problems.
